Showing God's Love

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” (Ephesians 4:29)

As teens in today’s world, there are so many things that try to shape us into someone we aren’t made to be. We are meant to build others up and love one another, not tear one another down to gain self confidence.

If you go into middle and high schools all around the world, there are many examples of love gone wrong - example of how we aren’t loving one another the way we were intended to.

Gossiping is a great example of this. Gossiping can feel so great at the moment, but are we really showing love towards that individual when we do this? No. Just think how that person would feel if they heard what was said behind their back.

I know I never feel good when I hear what was said about me behind my back. It is such an ugly feeling. Now, think how good you feel when someone speaks so kindly to you and shows God’s love through their actions. Let’s strive to become more like that individual.

We were made to love on others and spread the gospel. If we are not building others up, whether they are present or not, there is no room to let God’s love show through.

We need to be loving one another and encouraging others, to be the best individuals we can be for God’s kingdom.

What are some ways we can try to always lift others up?
How can you show God’s love to someone today?

Lord, I pray that you help me to always lift those around me up. Help me show your love through my actions and words. Thank you for all the blessings and love you have placed in my life. Amen.
