"Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 5:20

REFLECT
I know Thanksgiving is a few weeks away, but this topic has really been on my heart for the past few weeks. The topic of thankfulness. In life, there are so many things that are going on and sometimes it is hard to look at the positives and simply be thankful for them. But we are called to always be thankful, even though it can be so tough to do sometimes.

I met with a girl named Allison last week who once had it all. She had countless friends, played multiple sports, and was involved in multiple school activities. A few years back, she got into a car accident and lost the ability to walk. Suddenly, she felt as if she lost all that she had. She explained to me that prior to the accident, she never really thanked God for the things she had going for her. Now that she lost most of what she loved, including going running with friends, playing point guard on the basketball team, and even just walking through the school hallways on a normal day, she realizes how much she had going for her.

She told me that she used to beat herself up about not being thankful for things prior to the accident, but then she explained that she now has new things to thank God for. The accident made her realize that she could have lost her life in a split second, and had not been thanking God as much as she should have during that time.

It is so important to know that there is always something to be thankful for and the Lord deserves all the glory.

Allison made me realize that life is too short to not thank God for the things going on in our lives. Whether it is big or small, all the thanks should go to the Father. As Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away, let's focus on being simply thankful. Thankful for family, friends, blessing, and opportunities.

PRAY
Dear Lord, help me to remember to just give you thanks. You do so so much me and I need to give thanks always to You and only You.

YOUR TURN
What are some things you are thankful for?
How can you show God you are thankful for?
